Jim Bonato retired as Vice President of Operations at California Optical Corp., where he oversaw engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, warehousing, and shipping. Alongside his corporate career, Jim served in the Army Reserves for 28 years, retiring as a Commanding Officer at the company, battalion, and brigade levels.

A passionate advocate for community development, Jim sees the importance of strengthening the Pleasant Hill community by supporting organizations that assist those in need and amplify positive impacts. His involvement with the Pleasant Hill Community Foundation stems from this commitment to fostering a stronger, more inclusive community.

Since retiring, Jim has embraced community service, contributing as a member of the Planning Commission, past chair of the Fourth of July Commission, and current Program Manager for Pleasant Hill’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Driven by his belief in collaboration and service, Jim continues to work toward making Pleasant Hill an even better place to live.
